HJHS Continuous Improvement Plan 2009-2010

          In August 2009, the faculty reviewed progress made in the previous school year using goals set in the 2008-2009 Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP.)  New goals were written for the 2009-2010 Continuous Improvement Plan using standardized assessment data, survey data, and other local data.   The following is a brief summary of goals that were set for this school year.

1. English and reading teachers will use longitudinal data to address weakest reading standards. 
2. English, science, social studies, reading, and selected elective teachers will target textual, informational, and functional reading passages. 
3. Math teachers will implement grade level math meetings each six weeks to plan for math instruction with an emphasis on Alabama Reading and Mathematics (ARMT) Specifications.
4. Math and PE teachers will utilize technology in math instruction. 
5. Guidance counselors will teach lessons to sixth and eighth graders using Seven Habits for Highly Effective Teens. 
6. Advisory Clubs will be implemented to develop more positive relationships between students, parents, and faculty. 
7. Professional development activities will be provided to help teachers achieve goals that were set in the 2009-2010 Continuous Improvement Plan.
